This Year (so far)

As I write this I am listening to the song “This Year” by Cooper. The song pretty much sums up how 2014 has been going for me.

Can we go right back to the start

I got a little lost

Done living in the past

There's many seasons in our lives

It's been a long winter

Spring's getting nearer
Remind me of all the good and the bad (i know, i know)

Remind me of everything that we had (i know, i know)

Right now it's so clear

This year has been the best and the worst year

I hear it's all uphill from here

This year has been the best and the worst year

I hear it's all uphill from here

The apartment is really starting to look like it is mine. I spent the weekend in RR with my bestie and was able to pick up some more stuff. I am also using this time to clear out the clutter and donate some stuff.

It was nice visiting RR and the Lake but I was ready to come home and climb the stairs to my slice heaven. I am working hard not to become the recluse who lives on the second floor.

I have been quite sociable between spending Memorial Day at the Lake and the previous weekend with my son.

It was a great visit to SCC with some highs and lows. High point was being able to see how tall my baby has gotten.

Low point was having some car trouble. My brother was able to fix it. Yay for little brothers. Especially brothers who drive a hour to help their sister.

We got up early Saturday morning and headed to visit my family in Rock Hill.
Just waking up!

We went to Books-A-Million. It has become my son’s favorite place to visit. I am so happy that he is a reader. His favorites are comic books and the Captain Underpants series.

Our next stop was Taco Bell, where my not-so-little-boy ate chicken quesadillas. Kids meals no longer do it for him.

I am amazed at how much he has matured. I am so proud of my awesome second grader.

We ended up at a family birthday party. It was agony for me because I am not good in those kind of social situations. But JJ had a blast.

Later, we spent the night at my brother’s home so JJ and my nephew could have a sleepover. It was a nice weekend filled with lots of love and fun.

I'm listening to the sound advice
You spoke from the heart
Just be who you are
And everything falls into place
The seasons change, but we're the same

I have no clue what the rest of 2014 will be like but I am looking forward to it. A few days ago, I actually rode a horse for the first time in my life.
Freedom and I get acquainted.

I am definitely going to have to do that again. And instead of hanging out on the couch this weekend, I am helping out at a motorcycle ride fundraiser. I am trying to branch outside of my comfort zone a little bit.

DAILY DOSE
1. Attending a Memorial Day Service!
2. Finding a Mr. Pibb and being able to drink it while eating Nachos bell grande.
3. Leaving work at 5 p.m. instead of 7 p.m.

Comments

  1. I haven't been horseback riding in a long time!!! I probably never will again because the last time I did it my poor booty hurt so bad. Hope that was not your experience. : ) Glad you were able to get some help with your car. Car trouble is such a bummer.
