More snow days and other adventures

Last week was absolutely insane. I only worked two days last week  because it snowed Tuesday evening and I spent Wednesday and Thursday stuck inside my apartment drinking hot chocolate, reading magazines and packing.

In North Carolina, snow does not happen much so cities and towns don't allocate the money for snow stuff. When it snows, you hunker down inside and enjoy it. Plus, I work in Virginia so there was no safe way to get to work.

I had several adventures in the snow.

I made a message for my son.

He made a message for me.

Took photos of where I lived.

I am packing. There is a chance I could get a reporter’s job that will put me just three hours from JJ. Three hours! I applied for it on Tuesday and was ask to come for an interview this Saturday. Insane! I will be close to JJ but it will mean leaving my best friends and others in RR. Plus, I could be leaving my current job and leave them in a situation. But it will mean returning to Pickleland. It is like I am coming back full circle. I am nervous, excited and scared. I am not sure how all of this will turn out but at least my apartment will be cleaner. I have made some headway through the clutter that is my life.

I know right now it doesn’t look clean but it is hard to pare down four years of living in a place.

After working a couple of hours on Friday, I left early to surprise my best friend with a singing telegram from a well regarded singer in the area. She is not an easy person to surprise but I did it. I have never see her blush so.  In December, I participated in a silent auction and won the singing telegram for her.

I had a second socializing opportunity for January. My best friend invited me to her Super Bowl party. It combined three things that I am not comfortable with—food, people and football. I ended up doing very well without falling asleep and reading.

I  made a pretty awesome spinach dip. I had a chance to hang out with my bestie and her adorable five month granddaughter. During Bruno Mars half time show, the little one and I danced around the living room. All in all, it was a very good night.

This socializing stuff is tiring but fun!

After I finish writing this, I am the guest speaker for the RR Rotary Club. I am not a public speaker. I’m just the girl behind the camera with the notebook wearing the cute outfit. I am definitely stepping outside of my comfort zone this year.

DAILY DOSE
1. My son sent me a message in the snow!

2. If the interview is successful, I could decrease the distance between JJ and I.

3. Feeling so blessed!

  1. I haven't been around blogger for a while, so to click on this and read this update my heart swelled. How wonderful. And I always think the snow does wonders. There is something so meaningful in being able to write in the snow and be a kid with foot prints and pictures. Really grateful to read this and very proud of you too. Good look with all and cuddles to the little one <3
